Hope everyone enjoyed hearing from our first guest curator, Evan, last week. We will be having more guest curators in the future to bring you fresh ideas and perspectives on the military employment space. If you have a suggestion for a guest curator you'd like to see, please send it over to info@hiringamerica.net. We always love suggestions!
Hurricane Harvey hit my current state of residence, Texas, hard and with Irma on the way to the East Coast it made me think about all that our brothers and sisters in arms are doing to help out. I have been especially impressed with the amount of military aircraft and pilots that have come from all over the country to pitch in. It made me think, what happens to our pilots when they transition?
I feel like I have seen some great programs catered to helping different factions of the military transition but I have not seen a great one yet for our pilots. There are programs geared towards helping them get commercial pilot licenses but what if they want to do something other than fly when they get out? How can we help find ways to translate the amazing technical, problem solving and leadership abilities pilots have into other rewarding careers? This is a question I am asking from a personal place because my husband was a pilot and has gone through this struggle.
I would really love to hear thoughts from hiring managers, military program directors and of course our military members! And lets continue this conversation on email and the social channels below. Maybe we can find another guest curator or two give us his or her comments and some valuable articles to add to our lineup!Stay safe during this hurricane season everyone, thanks to those who are helping out and please tune in again next week!
