HA News 76: Entrepreneur AND Childcare provider???

← All issues

How many entrepreneurs have kids under the age of 5? How many entrepreneurs have started a new business and also taken on childcare duties...

March 08, 2019

"What time are you getting home?"

That is the question that often gets asked by the partner that is in charge of watching a young tot(s). But what if you are also in charge of starting your own business? Money is often tight for the beginning of a startup and a full time nanny may be out of the budget. How do you balance the responsbilities? Do you opt for an extra hour of childcare? Do you ask your partner to relook at their hours? Do you ask for help with daily chores? The last article in our line up answers some of these questions but it really depends on each situation (doesn't everything??). I would just like to say that the roles almost completely reversed in my household when my husband decided to start his own business. I went from primary caregiver to primary breadwinner to make sure we had financial stability and my husband took on the bulk of childcare duties. My takeaway is this: An Outside of the Box Business will most likely require Outside the Box Childcare. More updates on this to come! Have a great weekend! -Ann Cardona
