The Reality of Getting Ghosted During the Job Search
In everyday life, we’re conditioned to expect a response—ask a question and someone answers, ask for help and someone lends a hand, hold the door and someone walks through with a thank you. But during a job search, that same sense of reciprocity often disappears. The silence, the missed replies, the lack of basic courtesy can feel discouraging and downright awful.
VA Limits Apportionment of Disability Benefits
In certain limited situations, the VA has allowed a portion of a veteran’s benefits to be paid directly to a dependent through a process known as apportionment. However, under a new ruling, the VA will significantly narrow when compensation, pension, and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefits can be apportioned and will no longer issue need-based apportionments going forward.

As adults, we’ve learned that when we ask a question, someone replies. When we need help, someone offers. If we hold the door open, someone walks through (and hopefully expresses appreciation). But in a job search, the reciprocity of effort, politeness and response is sometimes lacking. And it feels terrible.

VA Limits Apportionment of Disability Benefits

Currently, in limited situations, VA may pay a portion of a beneficiary’s monetary benefits directly to the beneficiary’s dependent, referred to as an apportionment.
